Job Description

The Department of Academic Emergency Medicine of the University of Teesside, in conjunction with the Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care, the British Paramedic Association and BMJ Learning seeks to appoint writers to work on the BMJ Learning Pre-hospital Care Channel.

Two posts are available for the first year and one for the second. The posts are designed for practising paramedics with an interest in education and a desire to improve the educational opportunities available to their professional colleagues. We welcome candidates who seek a temporary secondment from their employing trusts and will work to develop mutually satisfactory job plans with the successful candidates. We also welcome applications from those who wish to work part-time.

You should be able to bring your clinical experience into the creation of learning modules. You will have at least three years' clinical experience and you should have good understanding of what paramedics want and need to learn about and of what constitutes enjoyable and effective learning. You should be able to write clearly and to deadlines. You should be flexible and innovative and should enjoy working in a team.

Technical supervision will be provided by the BMJ Learning team and the project is under the supervision of Professors Ian Greaves and Keith Porter.

The key tasks for this role include writing, commissioning and editing learning modules for BMJ Learning. You will also be encouraged to be involved in site development and to develop links with external stakeholders in this field. You will also be liaising with a wide range of team members, such as national and international authors and strategic partners.

This is an exciting time in medical education and this project represents a great opportunity to become a recognised leader in the field of medical education for prehospital; providers.
