Mike Jackson
MBA, Dip IMC (RCSEd), PG Dip, SRPara
Mike is Head of Profession and Assistant Clinical Director working for North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust and has 27 years experience in pre-hospital care. He was founder member of the Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine (CPSM) Paramedic Board and is currently a Partner member of the Health Professions Council. He is also a member of the Joint Royal Colleges Ambulance Liaison Committee Clinical Guidelines Sub-committee. .
He is an Honorary Lecturer in pre-hospital care at Liverpool John Moores University and is currently completing his dissertation for a Masters in Advanced Practice.
Mike began his career in Liverpool in 1980 with Mersey Regional Ambulance Service. In 1987 he was amongst the first to qualify as an IHCD Paramedic. Mike went on to develop an interest in training & education and was soon teaching fellow colleagues from his own service and from wider afield to become IHCD Paramedics. In 2002 Mike became the Clinical Director and Head of Profession for the former Mersey Regional Ambulance Service before it merged in 2006 to become the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust. He has a Masters in Business Administration, a Masters level Post-Graduate Diploma in Advanced Clinical Practice. He holds the Diploma in Immediate Care of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and is an Associate of the Ambulance Service Institute (by examination). Mike regularly engages in clinical practice and supervision and his appointment to Consultant Paramedic will create greater opportunities to influence and develop practice and ensure all clinicians are supported supervised and mentored which will assist them in providing the best possible care to patients.
